Spotlight: His brother Cross Counter won the 2m Melbourne Cup; never posed the slightest threat when upped to 1m6f at Royal Ascot (good to firm) last time but he was drawn wide and ran on late from the rear into seventh of 16, recording his best RPR; this race is a bit less competitive and his previous success has come when ridden much more prominently.
Spotlight: Did well at 1m4f-2m last spring/summer and career-best form when bang there at Goodwood (1m6f; alongside Story Horse) and Newcastle (beaten a neck in 2m Northumberland Plate) on last two outings this term; due to go up 4lb; shortlisted.
Spotlight: Short-head winner at the other Newmarket track (1m6f, good to firm; made all) on second start this term and nearly made it 3-3 under Saffie Osborne at Goodwood (1m6f, good; led over 1f out) later in May, holding Dancing In Paris by a short head but pipped by subsequent Royal Ascot winner French Master; up 2lb today, as is Dancing In Paris, and looks a leading contender.
Spotlight: Second run this term was poor (he also produced some of those for his previous stable); there's been little to quibble with in his other three outings for new yard, close third in 2m Sandown Listed race on latest and due to go up 6lb after this, but he still does not look the percentage call.
Spotlight: Handicap hat-trick last summer (final leg at Glorious Goodwood) and he ran well in Listed event on return; not in the best of form since, but not disgraced (seventh of 20) with this headgear enlisted over 2m4f at Royal Ascot last time and it can be argued that returning to 1m6f will suit.
Spotlight: Best form has come on AW, on which he's 5-7 (including Listed win) as opposed to 0-6 on turf; easily best turf form when sixth of 16 at Royal Ascot (1m6f, good to firm) on latest start, every chance, but he needs to build on that off the same mark.
Spotlight: Two wins and a close second from his first three races last term, all at about 1m4f on good, and back to his best when winning from Oneforthegutter at Ayr (1m5f, good; unraced on firmer) three weeks ago; the latter was a steadily run race in which he looked on the edge settling-wise, but he might be open to further progress.
Spotlight: No win since 2023 but he was second in this race last year and third later on in both the Ebor at York (1m6f, good to firm) and November Handicap at Doncaster; back near his best when second to Insanity at Ayr on latest outing, so he's once again in each-way calculations.
Spotlight: Had a good summer over about 1m4f last term, including one race on good to firm; close fourth at Haydock on penultimate start was a reminder of that, before he was rather disappointing in a three-runner race at Pontefract; this third attempt beyond 1m4f could be worth a go.
Spotlight: Fairly useful hurdler; 1-3 on the Flat in France early in 2023 and returned to this sphere with a front-running win in six-runner handicap at the other Newmarket track (1m6f, good to firm) in May, going clear about 4f out and staying clear; front-running in the 2m4f Ascot Handicap (33-1) one month later did not work out but he might still have more to offer on the Flat.
Spotlight: Reverted to Flat for new yard early this year and won three AW handicaps (1m6f/2m); given a wind operation (his second) in May and Northumberland Plate performance at Newcastle (2m, AW) 13 days ago was an interesting one, as he made smooth headway to dispute lead over 2f out but weakened in the final 1f; needs to be at his peak and turf form is nowhere near that.
Spotlight: Won at Ripon (2m) in April and has run well in defeat on two of his four starts since, including over 1m6f at Chelmsford (AW) on penultimate outing; fifth in this race last year off the same mark as today and has a bit more to prove if the ground is firmer than good.
Spotlight: Reliable at up to 1m6f in form terms for Karl Burke but he didn't look well handicapped; it was the same story on reappearance for new yard, before tailed off at 50-1 in the Northumberland Plate; dropped 2lb and cheekpieces go on but others are far more persuasive.

His pedigree and Royal Ascot performance are eyecatching for Endless Victory but he also needs improvement, while Dancing In Paris and STORY HORSE are better handicapped on current evidence and are going from strength to strength. There's little between that pair judged on their clash at Goodwood in May, which came in a messy race but serious company and they top the list today, with Story Horse narrowly preferred on his first start since. Align The Stars and Insanity are feared most outside those three.[Richard Austen] Show less
