Spotlight: Age no barrier to success for this fine servant and he comes here chasing a hat-trick after 5f wins at Pontefract and Chester last month; seven-time course winner, including this race in 2023, and should give it another good go.
Spotlight: Looked exposed after eight 2yo runs but she's found a surge of progress this term, making all at Yarmouth in May and showing fine speed when making all over C&D four weeks ago; her early pace will always be an asset at this track but her draw might not be so advantageous today and a 6lb rise against battle-hardened sprinters demands another career best.
Spotlight: Come-from-behind sprinter with two 5f wins this year, more recently in a small field at Doncaster last week; not well in under a 4lb penalty though and he was well held in this race last year.
Spotlight: Yet to win at York but he's run some good races here, notably a near-miss over 5.4f last July; needs to rebound from a lesser run at Hamilton four weeks ago but he's a contender if bouncing back.
Spotlight: He hasn't looked back since cheekpieces were fitted in January, completing an AW hat-trick and adding a turf win at Thirsk in May (5f, good to firm); another rock-solid effort at Doncaster five weeks ago and, while the market may well underestimate him again, he looks sure to go well.
Spotlight: Third in this race last year when the 15-8 favourite; not found his absolute best this year but he's dropped to a lowly mark and now has a visor added; Paul Mulrennan's booking catches the eye and he's considered, for all drying ground isn't ideal.
Spotlight: Went close over 5f at Doncaster on his seasonal/handicap debut in April; not seen things out so well in two runs since but this is a drop in class; still has time to progress.
Spotlight: Beaten 16 times since his C&D win in September 2023; has often run well in defeat, including here, but he put a major black mark on his record at Nottingham in April, belatedly leaving the stalls but downing tools and bucking around immediately afterwards; the combination of a subsequent stable switch/wind surgery/change of headgear could all be beneficial and there's no doubt he has the ability to win a race like this; risky but feared.
Spotlight: Lightly-raced 4yo; won a Navan maiden (5f, yielding; visored first time) on his debut for Paddy Twomey last May; similar form at Bellewstown 12 months ago; absent for 318 days (been gelded) and starts off for his new yard in a competitive race; betting useful.
Spotlight: Dropped a long way in the weights and the signs have been more promising for his new stable in recent starts, placed in 6f handicaps at Doncaster on his last two runs; mark left unchanged and rider's claim useful; each-way claims once again.
Spotlight: Two wins and several good runs in defeat this year; this more competitive than the Ripon handicap in which he was only sixth on Monday.
Spotlight: Won four times at Newcastle over the winter; form cooled in the spring and he returns from 11 weeks off in a tough race.
Spotlight: Made a promising return from a gelding operation when third of nine at Southwell in December (5f); no progress since and not sure that this sharp 5f on drying ground will see him to best effect.
Spotlight: Beverley winner in May and followed that with a good second at Pontefract; latest run (never travelling and eased from a long way out) needs excusing and others look safer.
Spotlight: Not really delivered on significant early promise but he's edging down the weights and his latest Doncaster run wasn't without hope; drying ground wouldn't look an obvious positive though.
Spotlight: Got up in the final stride when beating Copper Knight at Ayr in May (5f, good to firm); not so good in a Beverley Class 4 last week; stable also run Acrisius.
Spotlight: Well handicapped on his peak 2022 form and he ran some fair races last September-December following a long absence; however, he returns from some more time off today and this looks competitive.
Spotlight: Two AW wins for Karl Burke in late 2023; stable debut in March wasn't too bad but he was well beaten at Southwell when last seen in April; had a wind op since (his second); no worthwhile turf form yet and he's hard to fancy despite a reduced mark.

Improving 3yo Forager proved well suited by this C&D four weeks ago but she was well drawn on that occasion and stall 12 might not be so beneficial, especially given her inclination to hang right. Veteran Copper Knight can go well in a race he won in 2023, while Wen Moon is well treated if the ground is suitable and Brazen Bolt has been threatening. Looking For Lynda is of serious interest under these conditions but he did disgrace himself at Nottingham when last seen and now has to prove that was an isolated incident. CASTAN has been a revelation since cheekpieces went on in January and his latest Doncaster third represented another fine run. He's drawn near some fast horses and could take yet another step forward.[Paul Smith] Show less
